Our Wines
First and Foremost, We are Farmers.
Cooper wines are entirely estate-farmed. Our estate is planted to all six Bordeaux varietals, with particular emphasis on four that most clearly define our vineyard and philosophy: Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
These varietals thrive in the distinctive growing conditions of Red Mountain, and they form the foundation of our winemaking program. In addition to our red Bordeaux varietals and blends, we produce a Rosé of Carménère—lush, vibrant, and unmistakably bold… this is a red-wine drinker’s Rosé. We also craft a Chardonnay from a 1997 planting that expresses Red Mountain in a rare and compelling way, offering a truly singular interpretation of the site.
Neil Cooper’s third-generation agricultural background inspired the creation of the winery and continues to anchor the Cooper winemaking philosophy. Our wines are direct reflections of the vineyard, the farming decisions behind them, and the character of each growing season. We believe true authenticity in winemaking comes from allowing the vineyard to have the loudest voice in the finished wine.
Our varietal wines—Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot—are intended to speak clearly and honestly of place. Each is bottled as a pure, 100% expression of the grape. By farming intentionally and prioritizing balance and quality in the vineyard, we never rely on blending to manufacture complexity in our varietal wines.
This philosophy also gives purpose to our blends, C4 and L’inizio, which stand as intentional family portraits of the estate. C4 is a modern blend composed of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Carménère. L’inizio, meaning beginning, is our original mega-blend, bringing together all six Bordeaux varietals grown on the property.
