OUR STORY

Our story began when Neil decided to draw on his farming background to follow his passion.

He believed in the potential of Red Mountain and sought out the ideal spot to put down roots. The winery’s original blocks were acquired in 2009—8 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Carménère on the corner of Sunset Road. Over the past decade we developed the land, sought to make wines that reflect the terroir of the vineyard, and brought together a community of people to share our wine with.

We are proud to be a family-run winery. Neil’s children, Mackenzie and Jack, helped build what we are today by setting irrigation, mowing the vineyard, washing glasses, and running the register. Neil’s sister Cheri came into the fold in 2016 and manages Neil, the day-to-day of CoopClub, the tasting room, and events. Buc the chocolate lab serves as tasting room greeter and official gatekeeper to Red Mountain. We love what we do, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the people we love.

From the beginning, we knew we wanted to build something authentic, something distinctive, and something personal. We feel the community we have built supports those aspirations.

OUr NEW CHAPTER

It is our goal to constantly evolve and strive to improve. Our new winery building was completed for the 2022 harvest, we’ve enhanced our property and event areas, and we’ve launched a website featuring an exclusive CoopClub membership area. And that’s only the beginning.

We are extremely proud to collaborate exclusively with local contractors to build our new winery as a community. We invite you to experience all that is new at Cooper and learn about the many exciting things on the horizon.

I believe that whatever you do, you do it with passion. I am proud that our wines show such an incredible sense of place from Red Mountain, yet you will recognize our passion of farming in each and every bottle. I don’t consider myself to be an exceptional winemaker, yet I do take a tremendous amount of pride in being a very good farmer.

Simply put... It’s about people enjoying people—with a glass of estate-farmed wine in hand!

I knew there was something special about Cooper Wine Company when I joined CoopClub in 2012. The wines were different – both technically and from the experience I had when I met Neil that first day, you could almost taste the passion.

Fast forward seven years, after making wine alongside more than 30 different winemakers in three states, I understood what was important to me in wine and this lined up nicely to what the team was doing at Cooper– bringing intense passion and living the words that they preach when it comes to growing our own and authentic wine.

I originally joined the Cooper team to support my older brother in building his dream. Years later, I’m here because of the incredible CoopClub community we have built together. Friendship and connection are the lifeblood of this winery, and it’s my job to create opportunities for those relationships. And keep Neil in line.
